Prince Edward Island Non-Refundable Tax Credits Explained

Prince Edward Island Non-Refundable Tax Credits Explained ( Updated for 2024)

There is one non-refundable tax credit offered by Prince Edward Island that applies only to the provincial tax level:

 Children’s Wellness Tax Credit

The Children’s Wellness Tax Credit is a non-refundable credit for Prince Edward Island residents with children under 18. It helps offset expenses for activities that promote their well-being, like sports, arts, or cultural programs (lasting at least 8 weeks or 5 consecutive days).

To claim it, keep receipts for eligible activities and file them with your tax return. All residents of PEI with qualifying children can claim it. You won’t need a separate form – just use the regular tax return (Form PE428) and claim the credit on the appropriate line.
